HS. 748 Instrument Lighting

Post by CVA2525 »

Hello everyone, first post, I just want to say what an absolutely beautiful aircraft. I have always really liked this plane and I am lucky enough to still be able to see them fly. I get to see the Calm Air 748's regularly out of Winnipeg.

My question has to do with the night lighting of the instrument panel. When I click on the instrument buttons on the overhead panel all I get is a redish light. If I look at the instruments in the VC I get the instruments backlit and it looks great. Is this the normal lighting? if so then I don't have a problem.

I have loaded all of the files (4, including the main one), so I guess my question is, is this the way the instrument lights are supposed to look in the Cockpit view?

I have checked the main message board and this one but have not really found an answer.

Thanks ahead of time for any responses.

Hi Mike

Welcome to the forum

I see you've posted this twice.

Best post it in the HS748 Support thread that way all problems are in one place.

If it does not get answered it is because no one with an answer has come on forum yet

Putting it in more than one place won't get it answered any quicker

Hi Garry,

I actually thought about that after I posted it here.

Hi Mike

sounds roughly right.

some video cards will not show all the panel lights

There are 4 levels i think.

Using the 4 switches on the lower left overhead panel in the VC.
the 2d panel can only have one light colour and not 4 levels like the VC.

See pic (this is the 780 but basically the same)

Thanks very much Rick.

That is how my lighting look in the VC, but when I am not in the VC mode I just get a reddish colour and there is not the 4 different levels. Just the one. Which is when I push the "Instrument" button.

I hope this makes sense.

Once again I love this aircraft.

Thanks for the replies.

Cheers

HI Mike

there are some strange pink glows in the VC even with just the backlighting on as i had problems keeping warning lights visible.

so i added some feint spots of red light around any of the commonly used switches & warning lamps.

not strictly correct but makes it more useable in the dark.

I think with 2d panels you can only have one light unless you put a lightmap on the background it's self.

Regards
Rick
