A380 KOD??

Post by DaveB »

Hi Guy's,

Got sent a link to this nice bit of footage showing an A380 performing crosswind landings. Sri the 'spoken word' isn't English but it's enough just to see it coming in at 45deg!! Surprising how little rudder movement there is as the pilot kick's off drift.

What was that little blue wimp of a thing we saw scuttling round it?

Indeedie.. that 737 looks a little tiny by comparison doesn't it  Looking at it again, you can see the pilot giving it a fairly large boot worth.. the bottom section being the more active of the 2?/3? sections.

Great flying skills.
Can't help feeling that the undercarriage looks a little flimsy, as it waves around in the wake.

Cheers

Did you notice the anti-col light. It flashes just like the AI aircraft in the sim, just on and off, with no real power to it.

Thanks Dave, just imagine when in service and having to repeat that performance, the passengers are going to get a good view of the approach and the runway before kick-off!!

Apparently they were landing with up to 40 knots crosswind, not something that will happen regularly when in service. Always interesting to see these certification flights though!

Due to shortages and cutbacks the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off.
