Claiming compensation in such a manner for this particular incident, considering his involvement, is an outrage and one that probably angers many Police Officers.

This chap should have gone to prison for a very very long time whether he fired the shot or not.

In America he could face the death penalty and thats probably after serving 40 years on death row!

As far as paying people for information goes, its a sign of the current state of society unfortunately, where people are cash driven and will only sell invaluble pieces of evidence for a financial gain. Morally wrong perhaps, but the only way Crimestoppers can operate effectively.

Oh no! Is it too late to change my plea, your honour?

Sorry, Nigel. I was making a general argument against trial by media. I just felt that the opposite viewpoint needed airing for the purpose of a balanced debate. I apologise to you and anyone who felt that I was being critical of their own views. That would not be my intention.

Ian, I've said this before on the Forum....No need to apologise. I was just giving a tongue in cheek humorous (If you can call it that) reply.

Of course anyone who decides that one is guilty before the case is proved then they are not exactly being fair at all.

Regards Nigel.
I used to be an optimist but with age I am now a grumpy old pessimist.
