Sorry to seem snippy, but I had not seen any mention of it in this thread or over at the Outhouse where Peter had posted also.
Thanks for all your marvelous work Rick, I am really looking forward to this release as the Chippy is already one of my favorite birds and it is about to get better.

Peter Mac : I don't remember the pedals clearly , except that you had to work them rather hard if there was even the slightest cross wind! My impression, however, is that they operated parallel to each other in the modern style, rather than swivelling with the bar. The aircraft I flew ( can't find my logbook for that period so can't give the reg) did not as I recall have stirrups on the pedals

PS you might be interested to know that the Chipmunk was the only aircraft in which I experienced an inverted spin ( the spin deliberately induced but the inversion not so) - fortunately it had the anti-spin strakes and in fact recovered perfectly well, but as a rather indifferent aerobatic pilot it was not something I particularly enjoyed

Thanks Chris, I've now looked at the photo in the Pilot's Notes and as you say there was no stirrup...I just wondered. The bar in the picture is just a simple bar.

Inverted spinning...Ugh shock horror...The Hunter was prone to enter an inverted spin when you were trying to persuade it to enter a normal one...You helped it go into a normal spin by applying full aileron in the opposite direction to your applied rudder. However, if the aircraft dropped a wing in the direction of your applied aileron, instead of in the direction of the applied rudder, then you were advised to discontinue by recovering immediately. If you continued then the spin would be inverted :worried:

Looking through online photos of Chipmunks I found two of G-ARMG in similar marks to G-APSB

And from various sources both were part of the College of Air Training Fleet at Hamble.

From the photos G-ARMG has an underwing reg, but not an upper wing reg, so I suspect G-APSB would be the same.
