Cheers Robin

Nope nothing dampens his enthusiasm - at 3 years old hes already becoming a bit of an expert - wants to go see the "yellow biplanes" - the Stearman that are always parked on static display at Nellis - this year his favorites were Glacier Girl - which he showed the pilot his P38 (cast corgi version taken to the show) and the UH60 that does a static spot there every year ( this is the second year hes wound up in the cockpit holding collective and cyclic correctly much to the amusement of the crew) And when everyone was moving away to escape the F86s noise when it taxied in he was on my shoulders againts the fences waving to the pilot like a madmen seems the smell of Avjet and the sound of turbines are in his blood (its a genetic thing)
Thank you all for letting me vent - its been annoying me for the last two weeks - along with a couple of Allegiant guys who were also there. How aer we supposed to get the next generation interested if they are trampled under foot?

Cheers

Jonesy
Totaly agree with you - I consider myself one of the last true airport Brats
I was brought up around aircraft all my life and I was lucky enough at the age of 11 to be taken "the other side of the fence" by a Mechanic at Luton Flying Club and allowed to sweep hangar floors - wash aircraft. remove inspection panels and make tea for students , instructors and mechanics.
Without that exposure at a young age - I may have turned into anything
so I guess thats why Im so adamant about letting my own son "see behind the curtain" - at just turned three hes a seasoned trans Pacific traveler,
has been to three Nellis open houses - sat at North Las vegas and watched GA traffic for hours entranced , sat on the flight deck of a MD80 and can already indentify the differences between a helicopter , twin and single engine piston and "Daddy its the round engined one" (a T6) by sound.
So theres hope for him I guess (or maybe we shoudl all pity him)
Oh I forgot to add - he likes flying Daddys "aeroplane boat" on the computer (the PZL Otter)

Don't worry about venting Leif I understand how frustrating it can be. At this years Leuchars show I was treated to a bunch of anoraks with penis extensions (cough, lenses) elbowing their way to the front of the crowd line. They then proceeded to set up shop atop step-ladders! Fortunately the RAF chappies patrolling the crowd line were non too pleased and sent them on their way.
Well done the RAF.

Perfectly reasonable rant in my book Leif.

Best wishes

Heh I remember a few years ago at Fairford, we were camped right next to the taxiway on a farmers field (they lliterally display over your head!).
The ambulances & firetrucks used to drive past us on their way out and one guy found it funny to fire a big waterpistol at us all when he went past.
After a while we were waiting for him with a few pump-up showers!
Curse electric windows!

1 - That picture is amazing!

2 - I know what you mean about some of these "enthusiasts" who'll do nothing to stop at getting the best picture...Im a photographer by trade and was at Southport this year, got some good shots, no thanks to the two guys with brand spanking new Digital SLRs and long lenses poking them in my face all the time!!!!!!!!!
