Garry, it was filmed in the 1970s by Claude Lelouche. He was arrested immediately after its premiere in a French cinema but later released without charge. For many years there was speculation that the car was driven by an F1 driver of the day (someone like James Hunt for example), but recently Lelouche stated on his website that it was himself driving his own Mercedes saloon and that he dubbed the sounds of a Ferrari 275GT over the top to make it seem quicker. Given the length of the film and the distance covered in the route chosen, the average speed is infact only 48mph, with a top speed reached of about 85mph.Garry Russell wrote:The camera is set very low incresing the speed effect............but what stupidity and the number of red lights he went through :huf:
