Viscount 800 contact point 5
If anyone is curious about the little cloud of dust which sometimes appears on the runway about 10 feet aft of the V800 tail during rotation on takeoff
It's contact point 5 striking the runway, effectively limiting the angle of rotation on takeoff.
Fortunately the impact damage threshhold for this point is high enough to prevent the aircraft crashing on takeoff when such strikes occur.
Regards
David

According to the aircraft.cfg files for the V800 (original, update and panel aircraft mods) contact point 5 is at minus60, contact point 6 is at plus44, and the white nav light on the rear tip of the fuselage is at -49.773.
This means the aircraft is at least 104 feet long and that there is a hard bit 10 feet aft of the white nav light.
My computer is not connected to the internet. Each posting costs me AUD2.00 at an internet kiosk as does checking replies (my choice).
As your ego now appears to be costing me money I think I'll go home and remove the Viscounts and panels from my computer.
Shame really. I happen to like Viscounts.
Cheerio

I am not going to say what i want to say as you will also twist that into an insult.
the cfg you have is not my original & didfferent from the one i have here.
the downloads have been re uploaded many times due to low lifes that corrupt my stuff continually.
I have flown the model many times and never struck the tail
on mine that #5 contact is at -40.00 not -60.00
who moved it i have no idea
Rick
If you want to delete it please go ahead as i't a waste of energy trying.

Hi John
It's an odd one for sure.
I just wish David would not throw his toys out of the pram as i get a bit tired of it from various people.
I have no idea how it got changed.
But i know it's not how i wrote it.
It may have crept in by accident with an update at some point
Checked the 700 and that one is still fine so got no idea.
it's almost 5 years old now so i guess it's not surprising it's wrong.
I just knew i had no tail strike problem when i fly it so didn't quite come out with the right answer to what David wanted but still no reason to start insults flowing.
David:
You where right about the files in the downloads but they are not what i have here.
I cannot make a new file as my 800 series has almost 150 liveries in it these days due to Garry's manic paintbrush.
Change the contact #5 to -40.00 and it should be fine.
I am sorry you think i am an Egomaniac but feel free to have that opinion.
It costs me more to make freeware per month than the last car did on finance so please don't start that line of attack
Regards
Rick

I think that's called cutting one's nose off to spite one's face. You're clearly able to make adjustments to your satisfaction, why not just enjoy it configured as you like in the privacy of your own homeAs your ego now appears to be costing me money I think I'll go home and remove the Viscounts and panels from my computer.
Shame really. I happen to like Viscounts.

Well as you clearly say that's not Rick's problem that you are not connected to the internet.LoadMaster wrote:My computer is not connected to the internet. Each posting costs me AUD2.00 at an internet kiosk as does checking replies (my choice).

And I bet Rick has spend a lot more money on developing a free model for you to enjoy, than you have spend on downloading it.....
Better think a little before you harass.... :tuttut:
