Just been planning next year's holiday - I'm taking Cyberbrat on his first safari to Kruger National Park, South Africa. In the past I've always flown to Johannesburg and driven the 4 hours to Kruger. But since I was last there a new airport has opened near the park and we'll fly down instead. Just looked it up - have any of you heard of Kruger Mpumalanga International (FAKN)?

Only the South Africans, I'll bet!

It didn't make it into FS9 but Google Earth shows it, so looks like a job for Toby. The terminal building is wood and thatch - any experience with that, Toby?

It looks like a larger version of the sort of constructions kids erect to serve as schools in African countries whilst on "gap years" between school and university.

I am a bit out of the scenery game (and FS altogether) at the minute Ian, was thinking of posting some of the things I was working on to see if anyone was interested in me finishing maybe one over Xmas. Seeing as tehy wont work in FSX, I cant see myself making any more new ones after that.

Silly me - I should have known that Dan would have a whole library of scenery for it. I imagine this is one airport in FSX where the AI animals would fit in quite well

Toby - you're right about the 'aid worker' construction. I don't suppose they have many architects with airport experience so they just dusted off whatever plans they had and changed the centimetres to metres

BTW - just priced the holiday for me and cyberbrat.

Well done, Dan! I wonder if there's any subject in this forum in which you can't somehow squeeze in a VC10

Funnily enough, I did notice it before you pointed it out.....

It's a good attempt at the terminal building but doesn't look much like the picture :roll: But then again, the picture doesn't look much like an airport terminal in the first place

Thanks for the tip about the scenery, I'd better download it and simulate some flights down from JNB so I can check he's going the right way. They use Jetstream 41s, so on the pro side it's British and on the con side it's got props. Don't like props :sad:

It says at the site that it is highly realistic textures..what do I know haven't ever been there, but the scenery is nice looking and I bet my Add-on library will grow a few inches with the rest ;-)

I must admit that is more less only the contour that seems to be the same...but it's better than the default...;-)
