Ipswich Ripper on the loose?

In one of our free daily newspaper there were an article about the police had found 5 female bodies in the Ipswich vicinity, anybody heard about this?

It's been all over the National and TV since the weekend.

Would have been a local story for a bit longer

The bodies of 5 young prostitutes found in 10 days in a pretty small area in the vicinity of a quiet rural town. Serial killing on that sort of scale is quite unprecedented. Horrible.

Poor kids - not much of a life, having to go on the street to finance a heroin addiction and then to suffer a death like that. It makes me sad.

Not just addiction

Some have to go onto the streets just to pay the bills.

It became a lot bigger yesterday when two that we missing were found.

I believe that if this and the previous Government had implemented a law allowing legality of this trade in controlled conditions such as authorised premises away from the city centres then these girls would be at far less risk than at present from those who, for whatever reason, go out to harm or kill them.

Maybe the person who did this has a grudge? Been infected by a prostitute or just hates them. Whatever the motive the killer has, these girls not only in Ipswich but nationwide are at risk every time they ply their trade, a trade that is one of the oldest proffessions in the world and will never cease to operate.

The only solution to prevent this type of serial murder is to start to recognise that these women are no longer just a commodity that is acting illegally but human beings that have a right to be able to ply their trade in safety without fear of injury or death through some lunatic.

I'm not sure that politics has a part to play in this. What is certain is that a very dangerous individual is on the loose at this moment in time and the investigating force will be under immense pressure to detect the murders. My thougts go out to the families of the victims and those trying their hardest to detect the murders and prevent repeat attacks whilst also trying to reassure the public.

There were some similar happenings in the Norwich area a year or so back, which went unsolved; so many similarities in the MO that some of the local Police are convinced there is a connection.

One of the saddest things is the constant need for the press to refer to the poor girls as "prostitutes" and "sex workers", as if that lessens the horror of the whole thing!! The estranged father of one of the missing girls was interviewed on R4 Today programme this morning, one of the most moving interviews I have heard in a long time. :think:

I park in Portman Road and now don't get accosted every time i go to or from it

Which is nice.

The police are never about

We also had a shooting at the weekend in the Zest Nightclub which is about 100 ft from where i work.

Poor old Ipswich CID must be wondering WTF is happening.

Nothing for years then 6 at once

This whole thing reminds me of the film 'From Hell'.

Still....kinda scary when you think of the kinda person that's doing this sorta thing! :think:
