Reheated...

I've been browsing through my "100 years of Farnborough" book and notice dthat at the show in '49 there was a reheated vampire :shock: and then in '52 a reheated Canberra! :shock: :shock:

I haven't managed to track down any photos of these, just wondering if any of you chaps could point me in the right direction.

Thats a nice site! The Reheated one was WD943 on a B.2. Sadly no pics, but I'd be curious to have seen a reheated canberra!

WK163 had a scorpion rocket motor attached in 57. It was doing some tests for the Lightning engine. 70, 310 ft

and then in '52 a reheated Canberra!

:shock: :shock: :shock: The Canberra could outclimb just about anything as it was. Adding reheat would have been awesome :shock: :shock: :shock:

Sounds like once they discovered they could squirt fuel into the exhaust and light it they wanted to try it on everything :shock:

Channel Airways used to do something similar with the DC 4.......but I don't think they meant to :think: :roll:

Now I know what I'm looking for, I've found a disappointing photo of WD943 in "English Electric Canberra" by R Beamont and A Reed, Ian Allan 1984 ISBN 0711013438.

I'll scan and post later but it's a take off view with little indication of the reheat fitment except for the "reheat petals".
