Whats your favourite liveries? (and theres no poll!)

Post by VEGAS »

Hi all,

ok so we have had whats your favourite Aircraft and also the Hercules debate recently.

But what about your favourite colour scheme? What livery past or present really does make you stop and stare in amazement. Or perhaps its something more personal that makes you so fond of it. Because there are so many to think of and of course they may not all be British, why not list your favourite three British and non-British. Don't forget to list the circa or era of the scheme, especially if you select a popular Airline because they obviously have changed colours over time.

Here's mine

British Liveries

1. BOAC Cunard (see picture)
2. Air UK (All blue livery)
3. BEA (very early polished airframes)

Non-British Liveries

1. CP Air (1970's Orange/silver)
2. Northwest Orient (1970/80's Silver/Red Tail)
3. Braniff International (1970/80's All Orange fuselage)

Favourite livery of all time - so simple but breathtakingly beautiful

Hi Eddie,

Difficult for me this.. very difficult as there are so many great old liveries out there (see Garry's Viking paints and you'll see what I mean!)

I'm going to narrow it down to two for ease.. my favourite of all time and it's close second.
No.1.. BEA Red Square
No.2.. BOAC (any version)

OK.. I'm gonna stretch it to three cause I love ZK's Speed Jack too

Being on this side of the pond the Brit liveries are not as familiar as what you grew up with.

Hmmm....

Brit liveries:

1. BEA Red Square
2. Imperial Airways/BOAC all-silver
3. BOAC Blue/White

Non-Brit liveries:

1. Lufthansa (any livery)
2. KLM current livery
3. Delta 'New Old Colours' (NOC)

And for the record, the worst ever colour scheme is the Bahamasair cyan/pink/white affair, closely followed by Braniffs flying colours' :poke:

No contest. BKS "early" livery as in Rick's 748 G-ATAM. Closely followed by the Aer Lingus emerald green topped F27s/Viscounts of the same period. My old school was near Leeds/Bradford airport so those liveries are/were really special.
