One for the Viking Pilots

Post by DaveB »

Hi My Merry Men!!

It's great to see a bit of activity in the Viking fleet and nice to know I'm not alone

I don't know if you've noticed but there are 2 Viking's currently 'off station' and this is not by chance. The aircraft in question can be found at Gibraltar and the other at Cyprus (Larnaca) and have been flown out there to give a little variation on a theme. Obviously, you can pick up your own Viking and fly the same routes but unless you actually have the time (or use x2/x4 e t c) it's a darned long way to go. The idea is that if/when you guys typerate yourselves on something a little quicker.. you can fly out to Cyprus or Gib in say, a Trident3 or Vanguard and pick up one of the Vikings for a little 'alternate' fun.

Actual routes available will both either end you back in the UK or down as far as Mombassa (Moi) but you don't have to go that far  Unfortunately, AJJN at Gib has a fairly lack-lustre flight either way.. Southern France if you go North or Al Massira if you go south but the Cyprus based A/C can be flown to Cairo for a bit of sightseeing and on down to the Aswan Dam or to Athens if you go North.

There is only one aircraft at each location as up until recently, I was the sole Viking pilot (active at any rate) so don't get fighting

Just arrived at Gibraltar in a Vanguard and then remembered this, may have to do some african sightseeing. Don't know how far yet, cos africa is huge :)

Help yourself Richard. Nice to see it being used  The correct paint for the aircraft there is Vickers Demonstration which, though not planned, does seem appropriate
