Looks like I'll have to try later then, been ages trying to get on that link.

Only heard this third party but a rumour also going around is that Scampton may yet again fall to cuts in the Defence Budget. Cannot really see the Government keeping Scampton open in its' present form, as a training base for the Reds alone.

When it first closed, all the married quarters were sold off to the public so effectively, Scampton cannot sustain full operational status unless these houses were bought back under a compulsary purchase order.

So, if the Arrows are retained, then I think it will be at another location.

Are there any ideas for a new home?

Valley would be a sensible location.

How kosher is the "threat" this time Garry, real or the usual media storm in a tea up?

Signed.

Why is it that we have to have online petitions now to stop our allegedly democratically elected govt from screwing up the country anyway? :huf:

It is really surprising that they feel it should be cut

There are very few things nowadays that that are truly iconic British.

The Red Arrows is about all we have left in aviation to show the World that is instantly recognised where ever they go as something unique to the UK

:dunno:

Why is it that we have to have online petitions
because the politicians are so out of touch with the public?

surely not!

Valley - inclement weather, not to mention that it is an exceedingly busy RAF training base, as which coincidentally is Cranwell, which is one of the reasons they moved back to Scampton after their brief sorjourn there in the 90s.

Other options could include (the soon to be deviod of front line types once the F3 disappears) RAF Leeming, being co-located with the Hawks of 100 Sqn. The problem - that stretch of the A1 is busy enough already without distracting the drivers, as its the airspace - full of EFT traffic from Church Fenton and Leeming, Tincans from Linton and Hawks from Leeming - not to mention Durham and Leeds airspace.

And the problems with these petitions, as the transport minister said today, we public "don't understand".
