Sorry for the spelling its been ALONG time - I had a rather nice Steam Roller kit that had an electric motor in it - it could also be made into a Dockyard crane - and the reason for meccano was - it taught me the basic use of tools - screwdrivers, spanners etc etc at the grand old age of 6.

I'm with Leif on this. Meccano set me up for keeping my car on the road as a student.

Could never get interested in putting bricks together after nuts/bolts/bits of metal

I used Beta Builder by Airfix to make building but other than than Meccano was my thing.

Making Bridges and cranes.

Like Leif I found it useful to understand the basics of tool use and the importance of making sure your nuts don't work loose

Well, if Tonks fancies a challenge - how about this kit?

It's already been started.

Impressive though the Falcon is if I where to choose just one (and at these prices it would have to be just one) it would be the rebel blockade runner. It looks the absolute business.

However the website lists it as not being available in this country.
http://shop.lego.com/Product/?p=10019
Although I suspect this may actually be because it’s perhaps no longer in production. :dunno:

Surely therefore, the only sensible course of action is to get this:
http://shop.lego.com/Product/?p=10030
Which comes with its own (mini) blockade runner, just what you need for re-enacting the opening scenes of A New Hope. :axe:

Tonks, just out of interest, how long did it take you to build your blockade runner?

I got mine from a shop in Kuala Lumpar . . .
Kuala Lumpar!?! Blimey! Is this one of the benefits of having a VC10 to nip to the shops in?

Made it whilst on leave?...good move Tonks..

..having a bloody great box perched on your knees whilst at work and scrabbling around the office deck looking for lost bits might not have gone down too well.....
