Just read this on the BBC website, thought I'd share it
'In newly independent Zimbabwe in the early 1980's there is a story of a scheduled flight to a rural airport. The pilot came on the intercom to say that he was unable to land because there was no air traffic controller on the ground and he would therefore have to return to Harare. At this point a passenger at the back of the plane jumped excitedly saying "Here I am, I am the Air Traffic Controller".Needless to say the plane had to return to Harare and the ATC had to make his trip by car'
Cheers
