I thought the ATCO was commendably restrained sorting out a near impossible situation. I imagine this was in the dark which makes it almost impossible to identify a/c . Not an arse at all - he might have been in a better position if some of the position reports had in fact been accurate. A great laugh if you weren't involved!

My youngest daughter is a Controller with the RAF, and she's done the rounds at Lossie, Marham and Bruggen in her time.

She's currently at Odiham and reckons it's bliss being able to say 'All aircraft Odiham control zone maintain current position' while they sort out some crisis or another! [Odiham is the primary RAF Chinook base for those who may not get the true gist of this]

Agreed.

If you try to follow the situation on the airport map, things were quite chaotic with someone definitely not following instructions.

And with so many Jet Blues being told to follow company aircraft it all got muddled - unfortunately some were trying to get to the ramp and ended up in the outbound queue. So they were diverted back via what seemed to be the active runway :dunno:

Yeah, I shouldn't have said that really, it was just the way he was saying things at the beginning of the clip - he seemed to have a good idea of what was going on the end of the clip but we have to wonder how he got himself in that pickle in the first place

I would think it was easy and all it takes is to miss direct one and it all gets fouled up.

Something we all do :worried:

Because a corporate aircraft took the wrong turning off the runway and got stuck into the departure stream. The Jet Blue that was also asked to follow the corporate did what he was told and also ended up in the outbound queue -which is when the controller's mental picture of the situation exploded.

He did extremely well trying to get the pieces back together again.
