Where's the cargo doors at?

Post by DanKH »

Well I've been flying the VC10 for a while know, at suddenly it struck me; where's the cargo doors at?

I know David has "only" modelled/animated the two main exits, at least on the Super. but where would you load the cargo..?

Hi Dan :hi:

Do you mean where should it be?

The answer is forward fuse LH side like the Merchantman.

I was of course referring to the model....it seems to me that there are two normal exits on each side of the fuselage, one pair front and one aft. Not to forget two emergency exits as well right over the wing section, but no cargo door...that's why.... maybe it was a badly hidden hint of a possible update for the model... :dunno:

The reason I suddenly became aware of it is because I've been trying the Jetway thingy in FSX lately..

And no, I haven't got a PFC, and I don't call myself a pilot either...

whoops just saw it now..sorry David..

But it is hard to see I only spotted it because Garry told me where to look for it.....

Is it me, or is there a cargo door rear of the wing as well?

Dan..

I think Rich has it partly right there in that the fwd cargo hatch is on the RH side (popular with Vickers) on the VC10 but the rear cargo hatch is on the LH side.. aft of the trailing edge  Could be wrong on the rear compartment but I see no evidence of a hatch on the RH side

Dave I was going by what Garry said, see above and a quick visit to DM's site I can just make out the cargo door where Gary said it is.

No.. but photographic evidence is always strong

Here's the LH side (rear hatch)
Image

... and the RH side (main fwd hatch)

I'm not sure if Garry hasn't dropped into 'wife mode' with his lefts and rights but the fwd cargo door on the Merchantman is on the RH side (though the hydraulic.. main cargo door IS on the LH side)
