Have you heard about the grippen pilot,who accidently ejected himself,during a high G manoeuvre. :tuttut: :doh:
The story is in this weeks flight mag dated1-7 may. :think:

Several MD-11 operators use tugs chained to the nose-gear to prevent that happening (as there's nowhere for a tail-stand). FedEx at Dubai have a huge block of concrete on wheels, shaped to fit round the nose-gear.

MD-11s are notoriously tail-heavy but if there were ever any MD-11s that shouldn't need a tailstand its the Alitalia ones. They have the door at the rear and I think are unique in that regard.
