We have plans to replace lots of things, but some tight Scottish bloke has been tightening the purse strings for 10 years despite getting involved in two conflicts... Mmm.

Seriously though, I expect it will come under review with the MFTS contract. To be fair WSOs as they are now (as opposed to WSOps) probably have a limited life-span with the removal of the F3 fleet, the eventual replacement of the GR4, and the newer ME types (C-17, C-130J, A400m) being 2 man cockpits.

Are the GR4 got many years too come in the RAF? and thought the new Airbus A400M was replacing the Hercs?

2018(ish) depending on its replacement...

Old Hercs. The J fleet is only just approaching a decade in service.

I think replacements are a very difficult thing to forecast

Statements are made and that is the intention at this time

By the time it is due to happen everything will have changed and thing are either done away with, kept or modified.

Any replacement will likely have been delayed due to changing circumstances and cost control.

So really it can't be predicted with any accuracy especially military as even without the 'powers that be' that be changing their minds the requirement will change anyway due to evolving surrounding technology and politic situations.

:dunno:
