Vulcan XL360 (56k warning)

Post by nazca_steve »

Hello all,

well, I have branched out into pastures new, and painted one of Paul Foster's Vulcan models. Using the 'Shiny' plugin, I enabled reflective textures to give her a bit of a sheen, and based the scheme off a combination of how XL360 looks at the M.A.M. today and how she might have looked on the line (with full stencilling) whilst serving with No. 101 and 44 Sqns in the early 80s.

I've also tinkered with the cfg and air files to produce a more satisfactory handling - pending Paul's decision I may release these to accompany the paint (soon to go to the Pond). Cheers all,

Steve

Tweek is right - a very good looking model and we can credit Paul there for such a nice piece of work. The only thing I've buggered up is the ability to open the bay doors using shift-W now that I've modified the cfg file. Anybody know how to re-configure that?

I Tried that Vulcan in FSX and hit the problem where a strip of panel sits on the bottom of the screen and squishes the outside view up...

Look for a line in the panel.cfg that says Render_3d_window=1 and change it to Render_3d_window=0

While on the note of bug fixes - has anyone else who tweaked their cfg/air files had the bomb bay door problems?

That's an incredibly nice looking Vulcan and a well done paint scheme.

If I didn't own the PSS Vulcan Id be d/l this model and paint scheme.

Thanks a lot for the positive feedback, I will definitely be making it available soon for those that do want to d/l - heck you can always change your mind down the road too!

It was a fun scheme to do and I can see a couple more on the horizon soon. Paul has given the OK to add modified model and cfg files with the paint, so that should make it more appealing to first-time users.

If anyone has any specific Vulcan schemes they'd like done, let me know as well.

Cheers,

Steve

S! nazca_steve

Just checked and my bay doors still opening OK - so what I appear to have is :-

Under Settings>Assignments>Event>Keyboard have:-

Water rudder up/down = SHIFT + W
... which I think is default setting.

In the aircraft.cfg all references to rudder are as folllows :-

[flight_tuning]
rudder_effectiveness=1.000
rudder_trim_effectiveness=1.000

[keyboard_response]
rudder=150, 250

[airplane_geometry]
rudder_area=190.000
rudder_limit=30.000

Hope you get it sorted.

Regards
John
