This photo just about shows Manhattan's skyline. The Empire State Building is just in front of the outboard prop. The flight was from the Republic Airport in Farmingdale, NY. I believe this was the only visit to the US this year (according to the CWH website).
The dual control conversion was available in most Lancasters from say... 1944 onwards. In operational aircraft in the war, the stub for the second yoke was blanked off, but in this day and age it makes more sense to use both yokes as they are available. It's not a true two pilot aircraft, as the second pilot doesn't have a second blind flying panel.
