1-11 engines problem....help, please!!!

Post by gypsymoth »

I have used the 1-11 as my default aircraft in my Dell 9150 for the past 10 months as I like flying in it's beautiful (& customised) VC.

I installed it in a new laptop this afternoon (a Dell XPS M1710 & with all sliders set to the right fs9 is as smooth as silk!!) but as soon as I get to 1000 ft at takeoff, the engine overheat lights come on & both engines die. I have checked everything I can think of, & short of downloading it again I wonder if anyone more knowlegable than me can help me out......? This has never happened to me before I am unhappy that my favourite aircraft is now un-useable & am anxious to get it flying again!

Thanks,
Terry Wallis.

Hi Terry..

Darned odd that you've used it the same on your Dell but it's now cutting out on the Laptop. It sounds like it's overheating but I'd have thought you could push it well beyond a 1000ft before it blew up  Just to make sure.. can you try it either engaging water injection OR by keeping the engines out of the red. If it still does it then.. it's not the obvious

You can only run the engines at full power fo a limited time or they will overheat.

On the back of the centre pedestal in the VC are two switches for overheat if you turn them on the engine will lkeep to within temp limits.

With those on you can use full throttle....without you have a couple of minutes or so then you must throttle back a bit to get rid of the overheat lights on the panel.

Hi,

I'll concur with Garry. Maybe on your previous default flight the Engine Top Temp switches were in the ON position and with your new default flight they are OFF. They are just to the right of the HP Fuel Cocks on the pedestal.

Thanks. The problem is only with the new installation on the M1710 laptop. Overheating doesn't happen with the other computer. I have been using the 1-11 in it for 10 months with no problems.

I have tried looking for the switches in the VC but I only see the top bit of the pedastal. I'll try loading the one that doesn't overheat in the other computer into a memory stick & transfer it to the M1710 laptop after deleting the one I got this afternoon just in case it's a corrupted file.

Unless you have an old model overheating will occur with full throttle if the overheat switches are left off.

I agree with Gary.Use the two overheat protection switches on the pedestal. That should fix it.ATB EricT

Thanks Garry. The thing is - how do I get down to the switches? I can see the tops of levers, etc in VC view but don't know how to get to see the whole pedastal. I guess one can alter the view point but as I've never had to do this before.......?! I'll check out assignments for clues.

I've been using my other computer & using it's 1-11 & it flies full bore with no overheating so I suppose its switches must be on. If so it was installed like it because I've not switched them on.

Cheers,
TerryW

Almost forgot - I installed the Jet Provost in the laptop. What a little beauty.
