Hi Dave,

The nose is from Trident 3B, G-AWZP, which was withdrawn from use in October 1985 and broken up at Heathrow in June 1986. The nose arrived shortly after that. Its never been anywhere else. The Cosford Trident was a 1C (G-ARPH)

The Avro Avian belonged to a man called Daryl Grenfell who at one stage was my headmaster . He called one of his daughters Avian because she was born while he absented himself aloft in it! ( It was she who told me that this was his aeroplane when I met her 2 or 3 years ago)

Yo Eddie..

Cosford had a Tri3 nose section (it was a simulator) which I couldn't remember the reg of and has disappeared out of hangar 1  Hence.. I wondered (quickly and without much thought) if that was the same one.

Eddie/Dave

'ZP has been there since it was retired by BA

My only query was that I thought it was longer

Garry : I think it is a visual illusion - if you look carefully at the pic, you will see that the entrance is from a gallery or staging which goes back much further than the lower part of the fuselage and has the fuselage extending into it. Like you, my recollection was that internally the section was longer, and I think that when one walks into it, it is

Hi Chris

Always so difficult to tell from photos, but what you are saying makes sense.

Hi Garry/Chris,

your both right. The top part of the fuselage is slightly longer than the belly of the aircraft. It has a small seated area for about four people. As you enter the front of the nose the passenger door is still present(can be seen from pic) and next to that is a small worksurface or galley area. Then the cockpit itself. It is actually quite a long section. Hope that helps. :worried:
