Chipmunk

Post by Bridon Bear »

Having ....like all of us been sifting through all the latest 'eye candy' that new releases have given us this last year or so....I cannot help feeling that the 'Home Brewed' aircraft are still the best by far.

I have been flying the Chipmunk from Emma Field a good bit lately....albeit with a slight alteration to the paint Dayglo effect which brings back fond memories of flying in the venerable 'Chippie' in my ATC service back in the 60's.

Ahhhh.....Halcyon Days indeed.... CHEERS

Lovely Brian  Like you, I find very little that comes close to what is 'Home Brewed' here but I suppose I'm everso slightly biased

Been flying your Beaver3 paint in and around Emma too and not seen that Chipmouse  I know the Beaver is a payware product but your paint now makes it viable. Pity Rick never finished the Messenger as there's little else in my arsenal that will poodle around happily at 55kts

Absolutely agree with the low 'n slow types.....I just wanted to get the Dayglo Red as near as I could remember it......such a vivid colour that is hard to recreate digitally I know but it works for me..

I feel that I will be wheeling out the Rapide again soon....might even get tempted to get the 'Humbrol' out for that one too........NOT Dayglo though..

Now I am off to the NAAFI for a mug or two....

Regards.

There are a zillion paints still to be done before we get close to having a 'full house' on the Rapide front. The unfortunate thing is.. most if not all of the reference material is B&W so guaranteeing any of these is difficult. With lots of reading and a lot of educated guesswork, a fair representation of the real thing is possible. I look forward to seeing more Rapides covered in the coming months

Hat's off for a lovely Beaver paint and a rather dishy Chipmouse too

I love the Chippie and agree with the comments re 'Home Brewed' aircraft .I recently downloaded Gary's British Midland repaint for DM's 1-11/500 and very nice it is too. EricT

I have something of a 'soft spot' for the Chipmunk. I never joined the ATC (the nearest unit was too far away from home and Dad didnt want to become a glorified taxi driver) and so when I was doing a lot of Harvard flying in the late 80s, all I heard from Cadets was 'all we fly in is Chipmunks!'. What I would have given to have swapped!

But now I have flown four examples and one now quite regularly and so have a lot to thank Rick for, for creating such a life like replica of what is a classic training aeroplane.

Thank you.

Martin
