Wonderful find Ben, went to where I was once stationed (RAF Stradishall) sad to see the runways taken up, hangers gone etc. Still remaining is the aircraft apron. Looking I think the old MT Section still remains though as does my old quarters across the road!!

Spent some time looking at the old airfield as brought back many memories.

Thanks again.
Nigel.

Fascinating - there are just Airstrips that are featured aswell. One place that caught my eye was a tiny village in Wiltshire called Alton Barnes, known to me as that was where the first elaborate Crop Circle patterns first appeared. I didn't know it was an Airstrip aswell. (Though if there are strange goings-on, I don't think I would want to fly from there! )

Another interest is Hatfield. New roads have been 'drawn' on the photo, on the former Airfield site itself and on the runway. (One road actually called 'The Runway' another named after 'Cats eyes' Cunningham.) Have these been built yet, and are they Housing estates or industrial estates?

Sadly Hatfield has been annihilated  Only the flight test shed and control tower (now a leisure centre), the gatehouse (now a fast food restaurant?), the building adjacent to the main office block (now a police station) and the main office block (currently derelict) still stand. Everything else is housing estate, business park or University campus. The runway, all taxiways and aprons have long since gone as have all the hangars, factories, test facilities and the design block  I have some pics if you want to see
