Also depends on the aircraft type - if your landing lights are undercarriage legs, then having them on below 10K isn't always convenient! :lol:

Especially if there's a window in the floor so you can check that the gear is up and locked... (Convairliners).

Leif- No offense taken. I watched 2 idiots drive into airplanes at DIA. One into an engine (going to fast) and one into a wingtip (no marshaller going in and turned under it). Both were not the brightest of people (one of them also managed to dump at least 30 gallons of fuel on the ramp because he couldn't grasp the idea to turn off the fueling valve when the gauge hit 8000 on a Delta MD-80 and the VTO didn't work so the fuel started spewing out the left wing and he didn't hear or see it (because he also never watched the other wing like he was supposed to). There's always idiots among the pack that make everyone else look bad. Thankfully at ASIG we were non-union and every one of them got their walking papers when they deserved it (which sadly with the union ASIG locations was a problem).

it makes sence to be lit up like an xmas tree when near to the ground.
