Found this whilst surfing you tube, a sunken Bristol Beaufighter on the sea bed near the island of Naxos:

What a find :o , it looks nearly complete. I wonder if it will be recovered or left where it is?

Re: Bristol Beaufighter
What I found interesting is that it appears the radar unit was removed (wonder when that was done and by who)
You would think that such a rare jewel would have been salavaged - its obviously not in very deep water

Perhaps when the radar was taken off the type was still common.
Perhaps it was taken off for security reasons.

Re: Bristol Beaufighter
That was my thought as well Garry
it appears in the video that the whole assembly has been taken off rather tha it falling off its mounts in the ditching - Im assuming it was a ditiching
as the WopAG's canopy has obviouly been jettisoned

I think you chaps are probably right in you hypothesis about the radar. I certainly hope that’s the case, as I had initially worried that it had been taken by souvenir hunters.
However unless its salvaged I fear it may well succumb to this fate, which would be a great pity. As Leif suggests it is indeed a rare jewel and as such is more than worth of being salvaged and maybe even restored.
Malta Aviation Museum’s Hurricane is a great example of what can be achieved and it wasn’t in as anywhere near as good condition as the Beaufighter:

Ben, there are a couple of reasonable Beaufighters available for FS, one from Kazunori Ito and the other form Alphasim.

Beautiful Shots Alex
Looking at the salvaed state of the Hurricane - then there would be alot of hope for the Beau
Maybe someone will take pity on it
