I thought this was due to some numpty at the Air Display that the Merlin was at , playing with bits they shouldn't have and the crew not doing a proper pre-flight ?XR219 wrote: If the door can manage to fall of a Merlin which is reasonably new.
I was in the RAF for 9 years and last camp at RAF Odiham home then of 33 Sqn and i will be honest as an MT Driver we was on stand by quite a lot in the meat wagon for one failure or another on the Pumas (nearly every day) They are old but the boys who maintain them , i think , are the best
