I think that really sums up the morale of British forces quite well, the once shiney 10 fleet no more! On a more serious note, I am sure that the aircraft is between major service and re-paint, perhaps our resident 10 insider can shed a little light!

I'm certain your right Trev. I can't remember for sure, but the shot last year of the "Stealth" VC10 in black primer down one side was prior to it being painted, and if memory serves, someone said that although the major works are carried out at St. Athan, the painting was done elsewhere.

That said, what it was doing abroad in that state I don't know. It send a very negative message when we have so few aircraft that we have to use the unfinished ones abroad.

The abroad bit puzzled me.

My first thought was a paint needed after a major..but the visit to Holland seemed odd in those circumstances. :dunno:

It certainly looks like it's been prepped for a paint job..

..maybe these things are contracted out like everything else nowadays...

It's not the first to go to Maastricht to be repainted... :) Hence being abroad looking a little shoddy!

They've obviously got cheap paint in Holland at the moment...

Good grrrief!!! :o It has the appearance of not being airworthy :'( . . . . . or that of your average russian airliner. :-#

To use an analogy, if it was a second hand car I wouldn't buy it. :-(
