Those who've been enjoying the 1950s and 60s colour slides I've been posting here recently will, I'm sure, be pleased to know that I can now give the photographer proper credit for his work by adding his name - Michael Harries.
Michael was a former BEA/BA pilot and sometime trustee of the Tangmere Military Aviation Museum who was a great enthusiast for all things to do with transport. He amassed a great collection of transport-related items and, following his death 10 years or so ago at a relatively early age, his son gifted the aviation part of his collection to the museum at Tangmere. One large section of the museum's library now houses the "Michael Harries Collection" which, in addition to these slides contains many books, technical journals, flight-test reports - even some BEA-issued manuals for the Comet and Trident - and, most intriguing of all and next on my list to look through, a number of cans of cine film (colour, I think) of air displays, the earliest being labelled "Farnborough 1958 and 1959".
Trev,
I got the information from Hazel who is absolutely delighted that someone has taken an interest in Michael's work and that it's being seen and enjoyed again after all this time.

Great work Pete, I wonder if he flew with Peter McLelland? I do remember having a 'shufty' at those manuals, despite being a bit hidden behind the door
I hope to be able to have a proper look at the end of the month ;-)

Great Pete
Nice to put a name to them
It was very clear that the photogtrapher was very keen on what he was doing such was the quality and framing of the subject at a time when equipement was expensive and cumbersome if any sort of quality was to be had.
How nice as well of the family to make them availiable to others who can enjoy his work
A fitting memorial to a fine man
