Remove stock airports

Post by TSR2 »

Hi Chaps,

Been playing some more with the scenery, this time Sydenham. Its coming along, but for some reason I can't get the stock airport to piss off. There are compile options to delete existing opjects which are working fine, but it doesn't delete all exisiting objects.

The exclude file contains a flatten and the exclude autogen...

The stock airport is in a file.... APX46120.bgl (allong with several other airports in NI and Scotland) so deleteing isn't an option.

Whats more, the buildings that won't die are in a different bgl, obx46120.bgl, but yes, it also contains the buildings for tyhe other airports too...

You should use shp2vec for your excludes or SbuilderX.

What do you use to try to get rid of the default airport?

The excludes in the airport xml won't remove everything as you can do with SbuilderX.

Back in FS9 days you should be able to exclude the ARP and thus remove the whole airport (or rather, exclude it...)

Hi Dan, I am using Shp2Vec. SbuilderX won't run on Vista where FSX is installed on a different drive.

I've manually edited the obx14620.bgl, but obviously, this is no good if I was going to relese it.

Within FSXplanner there are options to remove the default bits and pieces, but its the blood buildings (other thanthe terminal) that won't go away.

Yes the Exclusion doesn't remove eg. trees etc.... you have to use SbuilderX for that .... and thus obviously XP....

Or you might get someone running XP making the exclusion file for you ...nudge, nudge ...know what I mean? ;-)

All sorted thanks to some of the chaps at fsdeveloper. FSXP has a built in excluder... I just never knew it was there" :brick: :doho:

For doing other things with excludes or land classes and general global scenery, I recommend FSX KML.

I have to say I prefer ADE as its not bl00dy Java. Jon has pulled the download from his site for now until he has his significantly improved version read... maybe something next month. :cpu:
