Is there a tool available that can pull.. let's say, all 'EGxx' originated flights out of an AI flightplan??
Reason I ask is because I'm currently fiddling with AI (at long last) and have booted out the original Traffic.bgl in favour of the CalClassic Propliners and Early Jets packages. These are all well and good but there are issues.. mainly with them being US orientated which, I suppose, is understandable. All the Early Jet flightplans (of which there are a great many) have a traffic percentage of 1% while many of the Propliners.. especially the flights originating over here using UK based models, have a percentage as high as 85%. The end result is that unless I have my traffic set to at least 85%.. many (most) UK propliners disappear and they always seem to be outnumbered by foreign registered types.
While I could modify the rather basic 'local' traffic.bgl's (like those that come with the UK2000 series) it would be nice to be able to modify all the existing flights to have a lower percentage but having looked in the propliners text file.. I quickly lost the will to live I could print it off and spend a month pulling all the UK originated flights but I'd prefer a simpler way.. if one exists ;-) It's only when you start something like this that you appreciate the amount of time and effort put into packages like the CalClassic AI sets so a huge thumbs up to them ;-)
If I'm reading it right, you'd like to invert the representation of UK types so they are more active (say 1 - 5%) and make the others (Say US types 85+%)
If thats the case, decompile the bgl with traffic tools until you get the three text files (Aircraft, Airports and flightplan.)
Use something like PSPad (a great freeware notepad) to do a find all the "85%" and replace with "*5%"
Then do a replace on the 5% to "85%"
Then find "*" and replace with "" (i.e. blank)
Recompile your flight plan from the new text files using Ttools and Bobs your uncle (or aunt)
Be very sure that you have seen Ben's * in front of the 5 the first time ;-) Otherwise, you will f... up the whole idea ;-)
The percentage is the percentage on the AI-slider where the current AI-traffic will become active, not the amount of traffic.....
If a flightplan has 85%, the only way you will see it is if your slider is 85 or over.
If your slider is set at 85% ALL traffic from 85 and down will be active, no matter their percentage, only thing matters is that the traffic percentage is equal to or lesser than the slider setting....
But you now that of cause....... sorry.

Who's General Failure, and why is he reading my harddisk?
Yes I did Dan but someone may have found it useful
Tks for that Ben ;-) I have backups so if it all goes wrong.. it can all be put right again in very short order It's a very 'dirty' way of doing it as I have absolutely no idea how many flights are at that high level so ideally.. I want it to be selective for flights originating from the UK but having looked at the sheer size of the flightplan.txt file (off the page many times over) I'm certainly not going to tackle it that way
You "just" have to see at the very last 4 letters, as they are the return airport, and thus also the origin airport.
every one starting with EG* comes from UK....
To be able to search each line from the end, you might want to use a Regular Expression....
Or you could send the file over, and I'll have it back to you a.s.a.p. removing all flightplans not departing from EG* if you like? or otherwise edit it.

Yeh.. I know that  In an ideal world, the AI Packs would have been made in the UK and titled UKClassics and I'd get to see what I want at a relatively low (30%) traffic rate or.. I'd have the time and wherewithall to sit and study the default traffic030528.bgl and bin everything I don't like the look of but sadly.. this is not an ideal world and there appears to be no 'quick fix' for this particular problem.
Another option.. and one I'm currently cutting my teeth on, is to wend my way through the current UK2000 traffic.bgl's and modify each one in turn. There are 8 areas in all and there's enough info available to keep me going for the next 10years Yet another option would be to use the default traffic.bgl and change the default aircraft for 'like' alternatives of an older generation. Of course.. a downside of this method is that you (or in my case.. Me/I) would get to see very little overseas traffic and once more, the default flightplans would have to be studied to see what the activation levels are.
It's a bit like going to buy a car which comes in only two colours.. the choice would be easy but if the same car is offered in 50 colours, you'd have to spend some time considering the options.. unless of course the only colour you like is black!
If your going to do a lot of tinkering with AI flightplans you might want to look at using something like AITM http://www.molitor-home.de/FS/AITM/
It is freeware and a bit dated since it is originally for FS2002, but with an update for FS2004. You will need to carefully read the manual but once you get the hang of it, is is easy to use and you can do all sorts of manipulations to flightplans or create your own. If you wanted to find all flights originating at EGLL for instance, that is easy to do. You can even access a timetable for any airport you desire. The program will also check flight times and flight levels against values in a configuration file which you can edit.
I found it a bit frustrating to use at first, but re-reading the documentation a few times got me sorted.

Dave,
I can send you over my BOAC, BEA, Bcal, BUA, Eagle, Cambrian, and BMA ready to go if you like... take from the flight plans that were posted the other year. ;-) I'll send you the BGL's and you can decompile them and use what ever aircraft you fancy.
Thanks for that. This is the sort of thing I was looking for though I must confess, the more I look at this little hill.. the more mountainous it looks I'll check it out ;-)
Ben..
Tks for the offer mate. I'd forgotten about the AI plans Tim Dix made until about 2hrs ago and I've no excuse because I host them on my space!! :doho: I tried the Channel67 set and found GCI rather busy and JER empty but for a single AI DanDare DC3 and a Rapide (the latter I put there) It's true to say that a lot of GCI's traffic was what I've put there anyway so any JER islanders shouldn't feel put out ;-)
On the subject of Tim's plans.. how did you implement them Ben? I've considered (and tried) making a new area in Addon Scenery and dropping the Channel routes into there and since, wondered if I shouldn't make a complete 'Addon' area called something like UKai and adding all of Tim's sets together into one big one. Of course, there is always the option of dropping it into scenery\world\scenery
