Ben

Do the best you can but concentrate on one side only and get that right

Then when you have the shape you select the side that you haven't worried about....delete it

Then copy the good side..flip and join :)

Then you will have a perfect mirror

It is normal to make half a symetrical shape and mirror/join.

Just thought

Make sure you are constraining Z and Y so when you move the width on scaling and you select tthe opposite points you will only be moving them on the x (cross ways) axis.

Thanks for that Garry. It seems to be the case to just build what ultimately will become the main part (i.e. fusalage) from other bits of parts. I'm not progressing, but I'm learning if that makes sense. The cockpit secition is by far and away the most difficult (i think)

Thanks for the help again. :cpu:

As you progress you will learn more and get more confident

The hard bits won't seem so bad when you get there.

Remember also you can move arround and remake as many times as you like...so don't try to get it perfect first time

Do your best and get something that looks a bit like it and get that flying even

Then you can go back over it replacing, reshaping, refining until you're happy. :)

Hi Garry,

More advice please... I want to lock ceratin points. i.e. in the nose, I have constrained x and z and want to move y, but not at both sides of the tube... i.e. the base of the fusalage is in the correct position so its only the top... very difficult to explain... here's a pic...

As you can see, the base area is moving up as I have moved the top down. Any tips?

Hi Ben

You should be able to just select those points and move them but if it get confusing to see them here's what you do

Select the points you DO want to move.

Got to edit then invert selction

You will now see all the points you DON'T want to move highlighted :)

Press the H key (H=hide) and you will be left with only the points you want to move visible

Look for the single white selected point and if that is a stray point not in your selected area then use the arrow keys to move off that point then select the single point and press H

When you want.... shift H will show all the points again.

You could of course select the points you don't want and hide them but you may need to make several selections . I prefer to do it as mentioned above.......but it's up to you

Good luck

thanks Garry. I find it a night mare not being able to navigate using the mose, i.e. use the wheel to zoom etc. The zoom seeting are far to blocky and not fluid enough. If I could use the mouse wheel it would make it so much easier. Righty... off to give it a go. :)

Ben - I note that in your image you're in "cross-section" <F9> mode. When you move in cross-section mode, you will move the complete cross-section. Like Gary says, go into Point mode <F8> select what you want to move, Edit->INvert Selection and (H)ide selection.

Another thing that I tend to do is to use Control-H to display ONLY the current part.
