Cheers Felix. Had a good session with Garry on Skype earlier this evening so I'm making progress, albeit slowly.

My big bugbear is the navigation within the UI is a nightmare and doesn't conform to any standard windows program... i.e. using the mouse to select a point... using ctrl + mouse to click (select) multimple points, using mouse wheel to zoom.. etc etc. Otherwise a great product, but the user interaction is horible. If the nice 3view backgroud facility was available in GMAX we'd all be laughing, but as it is I'm getting there. I really wish however abacus would look at how new users (aka a me) would navigate a program, as many more folk would be tempted. GMAX is MUCH easier to navigate, and if it wasn't for the 3 view background tool in FSDS, I'd be in GMAX... even as a newbee.

Setting up a 3 view background in Gmax is easy Ben ;-)

<F11> gives you a selection rectangle ... left-click and drag over the points you want. Add to the selection by pressing shift when dragging - same as in gmax.

Now, on my list of wants for FSDS4 is a lasso-selection tool....

Hi Felix,

I know about the F11 thing, but its about as much use as a chocolate fireguard when your working with multible points in close proximity. When your fully zoomed in it should be easy enough to simply clcik on the nodes you want without havind to draw a box arround an individual node. Not having a go, just feed back for the next incarnation. ;-)

Dave...

I'll need to look into that. Last time I fired up GMAX on Vista it wasn't pretty, but I fired it up about 20 minutes ago, and the display problems appear to have gone away. :o Must have been fixed with one of the MS patches over the last 6 months. :welldone:
