Thought I'd have a little look at RAS since Garry gave me the gen on them. Three C-47's were acquired ex RAF in 1946 of which this is one depicted in ex RAF paint scheme with added titles. Hope I've got it looking somewhere like it should be :

Thanks guys. The other two airframes (I think they only had three?) are just a quick registration change. However, not too happy about the original fuselage lettering on 'ZB as the white edging had become a bit lost. Here is 'YZ with a more bold white outline to the red which looks to fit better with the B & W image in the RAS book. What do you reckon ?
I am not sure about International Law at that time. As with merchant ships belonging to belligerent powers and not marked with red cross markings were these aircraft legiimate targets? Say a civil marked British DC3 was on a diplomatic flight to Portugal or Spain and was intercepted by enemy aircraft were they forced to land in unfriendly territory or just shot down? I read that some of the 'diplomatic/ball bearing run' Mosquitos on the Scotland/Sweden route wore civilian markings but cannot remember reading whether any were lost due to enemy action.
My bad on description at top, now amended. Livery is a basic ex WWII RAF paint with RAS titles slapped on. They were acquired in 1946.

I don't think the C-47's were introduced until 1946 (then wearing it's green livery changing to silver later). They ran the Glasgow-Belfast routes and London-Renfrew (on behalf of BEA).
