XH558 Post restoration first flight
Hi all
My wife and I were fortunate to be able to be at Bruntingthorpe on Thursday for the first flight. Although we weren't able to get into the airfield we joined the 100s of people outside the main gate waiting for a view of either the take off or landing. We heard the take off and watched the approach for the fly by and then the landing.
This was the approch for the fly by.
The landing.
It was over too soon but well worth the wait.
Congratulations to all who persevered and had faith to get this aircraft back into the air for a new generation of people to be able see her.

Great shots indeed. It must have been wonderful to be there and witness true British aviation history as it happened.

Re: XH558 Post restoration first flight
Just a thought - If XH558 had not been "grounded" when she was, then given the stated 10 to 14 years flight life now left, what everyone has just witnessed could well have been the last flight ever instead of the "re-birth", giving thousands the chance of seeing this wonderful Lady in her true environment - and that sound. Once heard, never forgotten.
Lovely pictures John, I am green with envy.
