Post by Chris Sykes »

Thought i would pay tribute to the older tin triangles that were white... Comments always welcome

Firstly in black and white,

Ahhh, a Vulcan as it should be. Anti-flash white and no sticky-outy RWR housing on the fin.

(Funnily enough the Rimnod doesn't offend me in the slightest, in fact I find the lumps and bumps quite endearing, but I'm finicky about these silly little things on Vulcans).

40 million rivets flying in loose formation. It always looked good in anti-flash. Although cleaning the Mk1 at Cosford as an apprentice did rather taint my views of it.

Can't agree about the lumps and bunps though. The RWR kept me in work for 10 years.

The B1 had the same shape LE but the tips were different and the wing smaller, lower power and no extended tailcone

The prototypes had a straight wing and Avon engines.I think one had Sapphires

Some B1's were brought up to B2 standard as close as possible equipement wise and they had the extended tailcone (B1A).

I would hope so.I read about it recently but then it all went quiet.can't think where I read it

Hope it's not like Cosford where after an initial outcry all went silent as everyone expected someone else to do something and then when the scrappers moved in about a year later the shouting started again but too late...... :-(
