Looking for period Edwards AFB scenery

Post by Paul K »

Having recently watched 'The Right Stuff' again, and with some new bare-metal paints coming for the XB-70, I've gone into full Hawaiian shirt-wearing hamburger-munching Budweiser-quaffing cigar-chomping mode, and need a good Edwards Airforce Base scenery...but one that dates it in the 1950s and 60s.

Dennis Waggoner's one is great, but it has new-fangled things like the B2, F-15s and JSFs, so its a bit too modern

Any help y'all can provide will be mighty 'preciated. :bandit:

John, the only thing I've found is the bar that Yeager and friends frequented in 'The Right Stuff'...the one that eventually burned down.

I reckon Edwards in the late 40s, 50s and 60s would provide some great subject matter for your screenshot art.

Thanks for the heads-up on the bar!

As for the screenshot thought... that's a fab idea... here's hoping

One of most fab sceneries that comes with FSX/Acceleration is Edwards AFB. Not exactly the period you're looking for but not that modern neither. Just some ol' Nasa stuff like F-16's,B-52, and a 747 loading up the Space Shuttle. Sure is the most comprehensive Edwards for FS i've ever seen.

That looks terrific. Unfortunately ( or luckily, depending on your point of view ) I have FS9. :-(

I have a version of Paul Waggoner's Edwards that has had all of the static aircraft removed except the Space Shuttle..... If you want it I'd be happy to zip it up and e-mail it to you. PM me if you are interested.

Check the Dennis Waggoner add-ons at Avsim. I believe there is one version and a patch. I think the patch removes the static aircraft. I know there are BGL's for it with and without as my install is without the aircraft.
