Where is this?

Post by forthbridge »

Hi All,

Trev's 'Classic' quiz (which I have *no* idea on STUPID ) got me thinking about another 'teaser'..

I've decided to take XM598 for a good few trips - aiming to go RTW - but in a roundabout way...

I have chosen a 'fairly' easy location for the start of the journey. A little orientation flight at night (as all our landings will be in darkness) sees the Vulcan coming in for a low pass.

I'll add a new location weekly (regardless of incorrect or lack of answers) ;-)

Bear in mind that the flights can go in any direction to get back to the start location - even doubling back - so it is all about range. I shall leave at minimum a 1-hour reserve at all times, and will fly in 'real weather' with winds aloft.

Without further ado, who knows where our 'base' is?

First Prize to Tonks :flying: ;-)

It is Diego Garcia. Now you have a week to get a head start on where the first port of call will be when the trip starts :tab:

HI Chris,

I've not seen the pack for there yet - I do have a few installed in any event: but there's little point me putting up a screeny of the turn in at Kai Tak

I need to give you lot some thinking ;-) - hence night landings

In fact, for anyone interested, I already have the flight planned. I shall post a departure shot midweek, including heading - and prior to the 'landing' shot going up it will be interesting if anyone can guess correctly the destination beforehand!

Been past it on a ship and it looks NOTHING like that!! In fact, I've been there on a ship and it looks nothing like that. More your proverbial 'Cow Pat' in the Indian Ocean and very difficult to see from sea level unless you're close :)
