I was about eight or nine at the time. Blokes messing about in helicopters or scuba gear
would keep you entertained at that age

I can fully agree with that Jim
Loved all the above mentioned shows - who listened to "the Flying Doctor" on the Home Service and then watched the TV show later??
I fell in love with the Drover and the name "Wollambulla Base"

Re: Who remembers this?
Talking of old aviation programmes, I remember reading (from some on-line forum) about an old TV series called 'Get some in' about RAF national service. Apparently, it featured footage of RAF transport types. Can anyone enlighten?

I remember "Get Some In" Sitcom jobbie, not overly funny as I recall. Don't remember any aircraft footage in it though

I remember that but I don't remember aircraft
It was about national service in the RAF and the title song had words something like "although we're in the RAF we never see a plane"...or something like that.
From what I recall it was all sort of barracks settings or similar.... I think I gave up watching it eventually because there were no aircraft to be seen.

I was in the RAF at the time and thought it was funny. Lots of those character types still about then. My favourite was Aircraftsman Smith (smiff), when asked wether he spelled his name with one 'F' or two, the inevitable reply was 'free'
Re: Who remembers this?
Gawd, the Whirly Birds. Used to watch that every week as well as some of these.
Garry, you are excused on this list.
The Champions, ThunderBirds (Garry, you might have heard of them) Danger Man and of course not forgetting a very glamoroous actress.....
Oh the wicked thoughts I had when watching her in this outfit !!

I used to be an optimist but with age I am now a grumpy old pessimist.

NP Nigel
I remember those
Just Weekend morining stuff I didn't knnow as we didn't get Sat morning TV until BBC had SwapShop and then it was only BBC.
Eventually we had BBC Sat and Sun AM and ITV Sat am but not ITV Sun am until th eighties.
One of may favorites in the old days was Emma Peel :doho: ...sorry The Avengers .....one episode featured a BEA Red Square Herald.
This was piston engined in the sound track and flew across the world to a desert Island before they realised there were no pilots.
The inside was huge like a ballroom and even had a piano in the corner

When the New Avengers came along it was Joanna Lumley. Talk about wicked thoughts, those skirts did the trick.
