There was something from the BAC1-11jet website reproduced on my forum a couple of weeks back:

http://www.aviationphotoarchive.com/Zul ... php?t=1138

It seems its affects may be further reaching than just the museum :-( Shame a lot of the museums with civil stuff seem to be losing out recently.

Hi Toby

In reality civil stuff always plays second fiddle. :-(

Lets hope this trend can be bucked :worried:

Its such a shame the museum might be going hope they find a new place for it and its aircraft, It had such brilliant veiws from the pinic area of the Runway and Taxiway. If they have to sell there aircraft I have there RAF SAR Wessex  Anyone know whats happing with G-NATY Red Arrow Gnat and the Sea Vixen?

Bit of a moan, I'm sorry.

After reading the first report O used Google Earth to view the airport & its surroundings. What hit me straight away was that at the south of the current carpark is a field that is nearer to the airport than the museum site, and is twice the size of the current car park. OK said field might not be for sale, but to purchase this would allow for future growth. If museum site were leveled & in time more space were needed & said field were used, you just cant wind back time & reinstate the museum & its exhibits.

Strikes me we as a country have a shoddy way with things historical, be they buildings trains or aircraft. When they've gone they've gone, so I hope some sence prevails.
