I totally agree Brian, some of the ones we have had are real stars!
If you have not yet entered (or want to re-do your existing entry), make sure that they are done ideally before the end of next week. Do not leave it until the last minute! We have an even mix of types (but no Argosy
), just also bear in mind the 'theme' of the Competition too, when composing your shots.

Yup.. just had another look in there and it's gonna be a devil of a job for a winner to be chosen. I have my favourites but to narrow it down to a winner is impossible. Thank goodness it's not my decision

Amen to that! We'd all have to go searching for Pompey scenery, warships and something old with RN on the sideDaveB wrote:Thank goodness it's not my decision![]()
Not that we think that you could be influenced in any way, Dave ......

Careful Ian.. there's already a FRADU Hunter diving for cover off the Needles that I feel strangely drawn to

Re: Prize Screenshot Competition questions and chat
Damn! The competition's getting too hot :o Time to think about influencing the judge.....
http://www.roymiddleton.btinternet.co.uk/pics/C1K.jpg
Seriously, though, this is weird. I've got the day off and putting the chores off until later, so I'm flying a C1K from RAF Lyneham to Macrihanish (hence the screenshot). And I've just heard four Conways in reverse thrust (EDIT: OK, before you start on me, I meant TWO conways
) followed an hour later by the unmistakeable (?) roar of (four of) them leaving again. The frustration is that there is an airfield about five miles away called Keevil which the military use quite a lot as it is close to Salisbury Plain. But because of the alignment of the runway, I can't see the aircraft - only hear them - and they are so infrequent that you can't camp out on the end of the runway in the offchance! I've asked Tonks to confirm that I'm hearing VC10s but he mysteriously says 'Dunno'.
Which could mean that he doesn't know .... or .... it involves top secret special forces activities which I can't know about :tab:
In fact now I've mentioned it, watch this post mysteriously be replaced by something from the official secrets act. And me along with it, I expect :o
Oh well, back to work, I'm just approaching the Isle of Man so it's time for a cup of coffee.

Re: Prize Screenshot Competition questions and chat
Hopefully whatever is flying out of Keevil is using the runways as the grass areas are all covered in large holes and ruts as I found out last year at the G-VFWE when landed there in an AOP.9.
Thought the only aircraft based there was an ATC Gliding School? JATO packs perhaps?

Now, there's a thought, Martin. Perhaps I had better cycle over and camp out with my cameraT6flyer wrote:JATO packs perhaps?
Pasting this into Google Earth shows not much happening when the satellite passed over: 51°18'45.42"N 2° 6'42.85"W
I expect the holes were caused by the C130s from Lyneham who used Keevil for practising low-level drops. Now, of course they are too busy doing it for real in the desert and we don't see them around much.
Were you at Keevil for a show - or just popping in?
Ian
EDIT Sorry Martin - should have read your post properly. G-VFWE - Great Vintage Flying Weekend :doho:
Re: Prize Screenshot Competition questions and chat
They're all great shots, as has been said I'm glad I don't have too choose the winner but good luck to all who have entered.
