Not off the end, it's only just reached the end! Appears to have landed 3 or 400yards short on the grass coming to rest on the threshold. Weather appears fine too.
BBC are reporting it had been an in flight emergency.

Re: Heathrow
Wonder if it lost power at the critical stage of landing?
Or was it down to pilot error?
At least there were no serious casualties.
Nigel.

Re: Heathrow
Too early to say Nigel
If the wind there is gusting in showers anything like it is here then that may have been a factor........but there is no way anyone will be in a position to even speculate just now

Re: Heathrow
Thank you gents
Fox News (murdochs trash TV) showed it and made it sound like the end of the world - Glad nothing serious although
I think that 777 maybe gone to beer cans .

Re: Heathrow
According to the BBC it is the South runway. Not much distance from where the flightpath crosses the A30 to the 27L threshold, so it must have been l..o..w.. over the road.
Good that no serious casualties reported.
How long is it going to take to move a 777 from the runway - I imagine the flight schedules are crazy now.

Re: Heathrow
I would have though they could use the other runway for landing and that runway could be used for take offs using a reduced length as the 777 seems close to the end.

Re: Heathrow
It is way off the runway. I have just seen a video of it and it does not look to be near T4, but on the grass probably to the south of 27R. It is , thank goodness, the most amazing lucky escape not only for those on board but for those on the ground it did not collide with
