I must admit I'm looking at it from a railway modelling perspective which is my main modelling interest, where so long as it is looking roughly like the shape it should be, is easy to build (largely rules out vacform and resin) and roughly the right size (very roughly in my case as I also have two Dyosho 1:100 jets and two 1:96 Glencoe Viscounts in the construction pile so i can cover any era from 1950s to the 1980s, they don't look too underscale in a 1:76 model railway context so long as you keep them further away from the correct scale trains and have more-or-less correct scale vehicles around them) and can be easily decalled up to something suitable for a small fictional regional airport "somewhere" on the south coast, then I'm not too fussed, it's scenery for me, albeit meaningful scenery and should be appropriate for the site and era modelled (which means no 1:72 Concorde or jets larger than 737/DC9 size!). It's about creating something different than the usual plank-to-plank at minimal expense for what will be a smallish second model railway in the spare room compared to my main loft layout. With two model railways to support I'm willing to compromise a bit!

However, if I was an aircraft modeller per se I would be wanting something more accurate and probably be prepared to learn how to master the pricier and trickier resin and vacform kits.

That scale thing is a good trick :)

If you want an airport in the backgroung then 1/144 or 1/200 are useful if you paint background toward it giving and impression of distance then they can sit quite nicely.

If you want an aircraft overhead on hanging on a thread a 1/200 would look great if above eye level and towards the back whereas a 1/72 would look well out of place. :)

That's no problem. just pop them in a clear sandwich bad and tape them to a sun facing window, 2 - 3 days and all the yellow will have vanished and they'll be good as new again!
I have become, comfortably numb.

Oh lords no one mention unmade kits!!!!!!

I've got (I think every Concorde kit) 3-4 airfix BOAC VC10s, (plus at least 2 Frog ones) and so many others (inc BOAC 747s 2x Lindberg Vulcan prototypes, BEA Vanguards etc) that I've got more than some model shops (do they still have such things?).

Knd regards

That sadly is the tip of the iceburg

There's even a 1/96 scale Trident (russian kit I think) a multitude of Victors (inc the prototype by Lindberg) and Comet's in 1/144 and 1/96. And well just a whole bunch more...Lordy!
