Ark Royal in FSX
We have been doing some tests with the Ark in FSX, Skippybing being the talented guy he is
has been making great progress.
She goes nicely into FSX but is still basically a FS9 model. He's now got her set up with working
cat and wires, and she's also moving at just over 20kts. It's great landing a chopper and also
having to fly fwd at the same speed.
We have the Nimitz in close company so doing trials on both. with acceleration installed you can set up
keys to activate the launch. On the Nimitz when you launch there is a wizbang steam effect as well as
you roll down the cat.
It's all still WIP but sure is a lot of fun now landing on a moving Ark, here's a couple of shots, will keep
you posted. Please excuse quality of the pics I don't have one of these monster machines to run, having
said that I'm getting about 22 fps on the Ark's deck.

Great to see her on the move. I have several AI plans ready for when she is released. Keep up the great work guys!.

Re: Ark Royal in FSX
Quick update, I've pretty much finished updating the model so it works as a moving working carrier in FSX Acceleration. The waist cat won't work for some reason but there's also a problem with a mesh in that area which means the plane is liable to crash if you try taxiing too close to the deck landing sight anyway so I'm calling it u/s. I think this is about as far as I can push this model without going for a new build, it was after all originally static scenery so it's a bit of a mess construction wise!
Screaming down the bow cat.
Slight sink at the end as I was too busy taking phots!
Into the morning sky just south of Gibralter, trust me you need an airfield by the sea to test AI shipping!

Hi Folks
Looking great Skippy.
Is anyone creating AI as per IRL deployments ?
Seaking -
Looks like a perfect opportunity for an ISD bogof.
Edit -
Slightly related
I know AR wasn't involved,
but for other vessels a Falklands task force would be a great project.
i.e. You've got 8 weeks for vessel routings.

I've never felt so frustrated....... died so frequently/spectacularly/or needlessly....... yet had so much fun, in a long time.

Paul,
Currently I've just got it doing racetracks of Gib so I can find the thing, it not being possible to start on the carrier outside missions. However the tool I used to make the traffic route http://lc0277.nerim.net/boat/ lets you set up a path in google earth and then use that as the routing so it should be about half an hours work to recreate a deployment. You could add other ships as they become available to make a task force up.
