Why Do Props Shut Down Midflight?

Can someone kindly tell me why my Rick Piper HS748 and Vickers Viscount aircraft all of a sudden in the middle of a flight for no apparent reason shut-down their propellers? In the case of the HS748 first the right-hand side shuts down and goes into flames,then the other one.In the Viscount,one on each wing shuts down simultaneously,and power is lost.I have tried the relight switches on both aircraft,still nothing happens and then all props shut-down and I'm gliding to a crash.

I have not had this happen on any other prop-driven aircraft such as the Canadair Argonaut that I have on my FS2004,FSUIPC,et al.

Any answers appreciated.

The simple answer here is probably fuel heaters.

I don't understand the flames though

If you don't have them on the engines will stop. :o

Check the relevant notes in the manual and set it up accordingly

This happens because the panel are modelled to a high degree of accuracy and contain features normally left out.

Garry has hit the proverbial nail on the head ;-)

Both the Viscount and HS748 come with intuitive checklists which show which switches have to be made all the way from taxi to after landing. If an event/requirement has been met, the relevant line on the checklist will display a green tick. If an event has not been met.. the same line will display a red cross. Follow the checklists on both aircraft and you will not fall from the sky ;-)

The problem you are seeing is almost certainly down to either overspeeding the engine (takeoff power is only to be maintained for a max of 5mins thereafter, cruise is selected.. 12200rpm on the HS748) OR.. you have not checked fuel heaters and engine heaters.
On the Viscount, it is necessary to make sure the PUD's are all ON or the same will happen ;-)

The reason you don't have this problem with any of your other prop aircraft is because the same degree of realism isn't included
