Short Sturgeon Drawings

Post by steve p »

Hi guys,

Now that I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel with the Welkin, I'm thinking of future projects. Wouldn't mind doing a Sturgeon Mk ! and have buckets of info on it but no decent plans. Do any exist - maybe Alf Grainger drew it at one point? I've got drawings from Aircraft of the Fighting Powers and the Aviation News/Air Pictorial set, but both sets are crap.

I noticed that the excellent Czech publishing house 4+ Publications (I used their plans for the Welkin) have been asked to do a monograph on the Sturgeon, so maybe they will produce one at some point. Wouldn't have thought that they would make much money on that one though.

Best wishes
Steve P

Steve, I know a project has to appeal the modeler, but the FS world is crying out for a Fairey Gannet, I have the 4plus book on the ASW version and would happily donate it to a new project. Failing that, what about the Seamew

Hi Railrunner.

Thanks for the 3 views but they don't really help, unfortunately. I need pretty detailed plans as the Sturgeon had loads of little quirks such as the undercarriage doors on each side of the nacelle being a different size and shape. At the moment I would have to rely on quesswork to get the inboard doors correct - but I don't think that would go down too well here.

Trev,

Nice try but no cigar. I'd love a Gannet as well but it looks a bit too difficult for my limited skills. So many people have shouted for a Gannet that I'm sure it is only a matter of time before someone comes up with one. I'd prefer to do an early Firefly and am collecting info on it at the moment, but with no idea when, or if I will start such a project.

Just got drawing of an AW.52. Mmm...

Best wishes
