FS2004 Comet 1

Post by iainp93 »

Evening!

Do any of you extremely intelligent chaps here know of a freeware Comet 1 for FS9?

And before anyone jumps at me (lol) yes, I have flown DM's Comet 3&4 models and I must say they are fantastic!

The last Comet 1 I had was for fs2000 by 'Just Flight' and I really wish to have one in FS9 :'(

Cheers

Hi Iain

There is one that sort of works but it has probs with the UC and engines etc

One is being made...not by someone on the team here but by someone who makes models and annouces here.

Sorry I can't remember who it is off hand.well I think I do but nor sure so best not say :worried: but maybe something will get posted as a response. :)

The only COMET 1 model is the old FS2002 example by Eric WRIGHT. It's available with a full selection of realworld liveries for the type .... and some "WHAT IF's" too. You can get it from here ....

http://members.cox.net/oceans_11/

This model will run in FS2004 .... but .... the engine intakes will appear as black featureless holes, ground illuminnation by landing lights at dusk/night (when viewed from panel to outside FS environment) won't work .... as I recall, and some folk (though not everyone suffers this .... I'm certainly not affected) report the landing gear won't display in external FS viewing mode.

Davd MALTBY's older COMET panel did work perfectly with this model .... but .... only if both the AIRCRAFT.CFG and AIR.FILE from one of David's COMET's (most obviously COMET 3 is best .... despite being a bit too powerful and long ranging) is used in preference to the FDE provided .... which also mean David's smoke affects will work too with this particular combination.

I have released a COMET 1 soundpack for this model some time back .... just search the sounds page at the following address ....

http://www.classicbritishfiles.com/

Until this "other" COMET 1 becomes available (YEAH .... I've know about it too) then this's really your only option !

The issue of undercarriage not showing is a sure indication that it is really a FS2000 model, but it all depends what the user answers when the plane is loaded for the very first time. I can't remember exactly what the question is, but if you choose the less safe sounding option, all aircraft seem to work just fine AND you get wheels! (But you cannot get propellers to work on prop-planes, which may associate with your black intakes).

If you need to change your mind later, nip into the FS9.cfg file and delete the aircraft from the [FrameCallNoWarn] section and the question will be asked again next time. Or change the status from 0 to 1.

Well, this 'other ' Comet one is being made by me - for FS9 and FSX, and the project is going well. It looks quite good and flies well (I think). All it needs is some more detail to the VC (boring stuff like realistic pilot's sets etc) and a few gauges. I hope it's a matter of weeks, not months, but who knows...

VERY VERY NICE JENS

Can't wait for this one

I 'm in the process of developing the Prototype Comet at the moment (FSDS3)

Do you have any dimensions of the aircraft spare?

Cheers
