Garry is very likely correct - Hunting Surveys had several Ansons at Wilson used for mapping work - the "fast jet" if you look at the light reflections is
probably something like an Auster - the blister hangar in the center was still used in the late 70s by EastAf - I have a photograph somewhere of an IAS
Britannia parked nose into it having hail damage repaired

With such a lot of interest I had better show the number four shot of that newspaper sequence:-



Sorry it is up the other way but as a pilot, that is the way I think of it (newspaper reporters think differently).

The other thing that I should point out is that Embakazi Airport (now Jomo Kenyatta Airport) was a Civil Airport and we only kept our Hunter FGA9s there because Eastleigh (where we previously kept our Venom FB4s) was too small. So practically everything you see there except for the Hunters should be Civil rather that R.A.F. :flying:

Edit...The two groups of three bright white dots near the top left of the picture are our 208 Squadron accommodation (Al-Tents).

Is it just me or do the grass berms and indents on the right have aircraft shapes to them...... :think:

Yes Skippy...The photos were taken by one of our pilots "Pete Tate" and he was in a Two Seater Hunter. It does actually say that, to the right of the newspaper clipping as posted, but sadly the forum software clips the right hand edge off. The clip was kept at a size for the reading of the article and reducing its width any further makes the text unreadable.

I think those shapes are created by storm drain water flowing through.

Very hard to see in that picture are about six camouflaged Hunters on the squadron line near the "Al Tents"

Judging by the soot plumes along the western edge of the apron by your tents - you must have been using that area for some time (thats how I found your
camoflaged Hunters) - seems a shame that historic area is now covered by the abomination they call a terminal. Oh yes - Tony and Dave I spy a Britannia
and an Argonaut in this picture



Thanks for the memories Peter although my times in Nairobi were ten years later - IAS used the Panafric Hotel which was on the south side of Uhuru Park and Golf course right across the road from the Starlight Club
