I am lucky to have fiber optic broadband and get 5mbps download and 2mbps upload. For another $10 a month I could get 15mbs download speed, but I think that would be overkill.

Here is an interesting link: http://www.speedtest.net/ This allows you to test your internet speeds and compare with results all over the world.

I only got about 120kb/s too. Although I probably downloaded when everybody else was

Here is my result on that site from a while ago :)

Rather poor upload though.

Downloading depends on so many outside forces, it's probably not possible to nail one particular thing on the head. I'm only on 2mb BB here (to tight to go further) but regularly see in excess of 220kbps when downloading off CBFS. We don't suffer contention problems whereas Peter's BT space might. I usually see in excess of 120kbps off Allnodes but only around 40-45 off Classic British Files and Avsim. UKMIL is generally walking pace too

Well it is all very interesting...I get 6697 Kbs/s Down and 377 Kbs/s Up ...No wonder it took 3 hours to Upload that video :)

I haven't removed it yet...still waiting for hopefully another Gigabyte to be added to my allocation but nothing from them yet...I'll remove the file later this evening :)

Hello Peter
Sent you an email,

my download speeds where about 200kbs (when I looked) over a wirless connection on a clients network.
I downloaded it while working so ......in a sence I didn't have to sit and watch the water come to a boil.
I think it may have been about 40 to 50 minutes ........... the speeds may have moved up and down. :dunno:
